Last week so many of you entered the fabulous T-Mobile Springboard tablet giveaway and hopefully gained some tips on protecting your children’s safety this summer with apps such as FamilyWhere, Web Guard and Family Allowances. You can use these accessible tools to protect our kids this summer on the phones and devices you already own, as well as new offerings from T-Mobile such as the Springboard and HTC One S.
I had the opportunity to host an event on T-Mobile’s behalf for local social media rockstar parents. These blogging, Twittering and Facebook-savvy parents and I converged on the downtown Silver Spring T-Mobile store for the #TMobileSummer #DC Celebration. We got the chance to play with the new devices and also learned ways that technology can help us parents protect our families, especially important during the summer when children are out of school and families are traveling.
I got a chance to try out the HTC One S at the event, and I was impressed with the ease with which I could move back and forth between social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook and calling, texting, and checking e-mail. I also loved the high-quality camera on the phone (no need to bring a separate camera for clear images) and I got some great photos!
(l-r) Amy of TeachMama, Stacey of Justice Fergie’s Life Is the Party and Blogalicious, and Amanda of Parenting by Dummies always make me smile. I like to bask in their awesomeness at events.
(l-r) Jean of Stimeyland and AutismMontgomery (AutMont) and Sue of Laundry for Six get into the spirit of T-Mobile’s summer games.
(l-r) The gorgeous and kind Safire of Waterfalling Up and Lolli of Better in Bulk came out to win prizes (and get a night off from the kids.)
The prize winners of the evening! Stacey, Fadra of All Things Fadra (welcome to the DC-VA-MD blogging community!), Safire, Robin of The Not-Ever-Still Life, Jean, and Andrea of The Real Housewives of Northern Virginia.
And a lucky reader is a winner too! I am happy to this week announce that the randomly-drawn reader winner of the giveaway is Jennifer Lynn (thank you all for entering).
And something we can all use are T-Mobile‘s important tips that apply to our families’ digital organization, safety and security.
- Lookout Mobile Security: Did you know that your mobile device contains more personal, important information than your wallet? In the event that you lose it or it is stolen when traveling this summer, this app allows you to remotely lock your phone and wipe its contents, and find out which apps or services are accessing your personal information. This incredible peace-of-mind enabling protection is just $2.99 per month and available for download on Google Play. Lookout Mobile Security also provides award-winning antivirus and malware protection and you can even find your phone when the ringer is off with custom SCREAM Tones.
- MobileLife Family Organizer: This application and online service makes managing busy family schedules a snap with a shared family calendar, shopping lists, to-do lists, family journal and more. The entire family can use on their mobile devices, regardless of the type of device they are using!
May you have a safe, and organized, summer my friends!
Disclosure: I am compensated by T-Mobile for my participation in this campaign.
