We parents are constantly on the lookout for more, new ways to keep our children in their best health. So when I learned that Seventh Generation, the maker of green cleaning products and diapers, was coming out with a line of baby bath and body products, I signed up to learn more.
Seventh Generation baby bath and body products are the very first complete line of USDA-certified biobased baby care products. They contain absolutely zero synthetic fragrances, phthalates, parabens — all ingredients of concern to our kids’ health.
Instead of chemicals, the products are made with natural ingredients that come from plants and minerals, like extra-virgin olive oil to moisturize and protect. And for children with gluten allergies and sensitivities, the products are the only completely gluten-free line on the market.
Seventh Generation sent Alice a box of their new products, and we have been loving them (Charlie and Eve have been bathing and moisturizing with them, too, big kids though they are). All the products are gentle on my kids’ eczema-prone skin, tear-free and leave them smelling clean and natural. I love that after our samples are gone I will be able to continue to find healthy, affordable products for my baby and older children in easy places like Whole Foods and Giant, rather than having to hoof it to a crunchy co-op or spend more than I was already paying for regular drugstore children’s care products.
As a Seventh Generation review blogger I also had the opportunity to learn some baby massage tips from world-renowned infant massage expert Tina Allen. Some gems from her briefing with bloggers:
- Blending infant massage into a bedtime routine will help babies sleep — important for parents’ sleep but also essential since most infant growth and development take place during sleep.
- When massaging your baby, use long, fluid strokes on the limbs or back. Anything that might feel relaxing to you will feel relaxing to them.
- You can also do massage throughout the day, a few little strokes here and there, they cumulatively add up. By the end of the day, all of the relaxing hormones build up and baby will be ready for sleep.
And here’s a helpful vid for us all from Tina.
If you live in the New York area, be sure to check out the FREE Seventh Generation Baby Massage Fest on Thursday, Nov 8 10:15am to 11:30am at Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY
You will join Tina Allen and Seventh Generation celebrating natural parenting with a 45-minute hands-on baby massage class for newborns (3 weeks old or more) and young babies. Seventh Generation will also share tips on how to help parents identify and remove unnecessary chemicals from baby’s bath time. Email RSVP to cgormley@cerconebrown.com
Seventh Generation is also going to gift Seventh Generation Baby product baskets, identical to the one I received (approximate retail value $50 each) to TWO lucky A Parent in America reader families!
To be entered to win, simply leave a comment with your favorite way to keep your kids healthy.
Disclosure: I received product and compensation for my review. All opinions expressed are my own.

We try tobuy organic food (organic cookies are totally a health food, right? and) wash hands frequently. Toddlers dont seem to need much encouragement to run around so we try to get her outside and get out of her way!
