I get to spend my days, my life, with truly the most wonderful people I have ever met: my children and my husband. Awakening to the chaos of their clanging cereal bowls and coffee making and leggo-my-eggo-ing is my alarm clock of blessings each day.
Life as a hardworking American family can often feel stressful, what with its unrelenting pace and demands, but when we are surrounded by the ones we love, it is foolish not to envelope ourselves in gratitude. For we have so much, we are richer in opportunities and blessings than so many others in other countries can comprehend.
I received from the #CleverHaiti campaign a beautiful star, crafted by Haitian artisans. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, and the poverty has been severely augmented after 2010’s earthquake, from which the people are still working to recover. Despite the devastation, people such as the Heart of Haiti artists are motivated by hope and are working to improve their lives through employment.
I am personally giving as Christmas gifts for loved ones items from Macy’s Heart of Haiti collection, which features more than 40 home decor items including quilts, metalwork, jewelry and paintings. These gifts are made almost entirely from recycled and sustainable items from their homeland.
I know that each gift I purchase helps support this program for Haitian family members to work and provide for the stars in their own lives. And I love that through sharing this Heart of Haiti star with my stars, my husband and children, the five of us are filled with true grace and gratitude during this reflective season.
I received exclusive product from the Macy’s Heart of Haiti line that inspired this post. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own. #CleverHaiti
