Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Verizon
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, available from Verizon Wireless, is a big, beautiful Android that is superfast and supersized. The large, 5.7 inch HD screen makes for great web browsing and article reading that no phone on the market can touch. The resolution is crisper than an iPad mini. And the battery? It lasts forever.
CNET says, “The Note 3 features a sleeker design than its predecessor, the Note 2, a streamlined S Pen interface, plus the same superb camera you’ll find on the Galaxy S4.”
As a regular iPhone user, I found the Google Play apps easy to download and integrate. I was able to quickly sync my G-mail, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts. The Flipboard layout of the homepage makes for easy organization of your apps and documents. I personally liked being able to flip between live Facebook, Twitter and Instagram live steams right on the home screen; this Flipboard interface is probably my most favorite and the most addicting aspect of this phone.
I write my daily to-do list longhand, so I loved using the innovative S Pen to take longhand notes on the phone and easily link up to my Evernote account. The S Pen options can also give you an Advanced Multi Window feature, which allows you to have two apps open at once on the same screen.
The 13 megapixel camera is top-notch. Heck, even Ellen used the Galaxy Note 3’s camera to take the most famous group selfie ever!
You can edit your photos directly using the Galaxy Note’s Camera Eraser feature. I loved the ability to take out weird dudes photo bombing or telephone wires in the background of my otherwise perfect shots. If you are using Instagram, be sure to crop and edit your photos to a square size before opening the app. The Android version of Instagram still does not have as many cropping options as the iPhone version of the app.
And of course, Verizon’s 4G LTE signal is fabulous, the clearest I have heard. It blows the Sprint signal in my area of the DC suburbs out of the water.
One important recommendation: Obtain a case for the Galaxy Note 3 IMMEDIATELY. Its screen is delicate and the size can be unwieldy in hands used to smaller phones. It is insanely easy to drop and that beautiful glass HD touchscreen will spiderweb on you with one little ding. I recommend the Tech21 Impact Tactical Case at the Verizon Wireless store.
