When I ask my daughters if I can take their photos when they are wearing their swimsuits, they do this:
Or this:
No matter our age, size or how many babies we have carried, we should all be so joyful when going for a swim.
I wear a swimsuit almost every day in the summer thanks to three kids on the swim team and a great neighborhood pool. Swimming laps is one of my favorite forms of exercise. I also boogie board at the beach, jump on water slides, build sand castles and an array of other inelegant activities while wearing almost no clothing. No matter where I am fitness- and size-wise, my kids do not give two shakes. They simply want a mom who is up for having fun!
I am participating in the #MySwimsuitStyle challenge to promote self LOVE, not self loathing, with María José Ovalle of Very Busy Mamá and sponsor Miraclesuit.
As we all embrace self-love and having unselfconscious, fun-filled summers with our kids, I am supposed to urge you to post a swimsuit selfie. I tried to take my own swimsuit selfie and I felt like the biggest derp of all time. I like my body and yes, I blog and post selfies on Instagram, but a swimsuit selfie at age 40 felt so wannabe Real Housewife … but here they are in all all their blurry glory.
(María José, please don’t make me go back and take a better one! However, if you would like to see some truly beautiful swimsuit selfies, check out her awesome post!)
I am wearing my go-to suit style when running around and jumping off high dives with my kids, a strapless, one piece bandeau. The strapless style keeps me from sporting shoulder tan lines, and the one-piece construction keeps me from worrying about things popping out while active. With three kids, my flimsier suits made for sitting pretty and “laying out” tend to stay in the drawer. Miraclesuit makes similar styles which offer support and bolster confidence.
I may not be the best swimsuit selfie taker, but rest assured, you can find me in a suit and in the water every day with my kids. I promise to always be happy to jump into the frame with Chris, Charlie, Eve and Alice as we capture our summer memories.
Let’s all work on self LOVE and having a blast with our kids this summer!
Let’s all wear our swimsuits like the unselfconscious young girls we once were.
Disclosure: I am receiving a Miraclesuit swimsuit for review. No additional compensation received. All opinions are my own.

Jessica, can I just say how happy I am you did this? We’ve talked a little bit about our weight, etc and you look awesome. And you are right, I wish I could just strut around like kids in their swimsuits — without a care in the world! And that suit is smokin’!!!!!! Love the back of it…go mama go! xoxo

YES! I think this is a great post because it reminds us that little kids just put on bathing suits so that they’re in a bathing suit when they’re at the pool or beach or whatever, they don’t worry about how they look in it! Traipse around in your gorgeous suit in your beautiful bod to have fun not worries! I’m so glad you participated.

I’m so happy that I spent the summer playing with my size 16 body and my kids in the ocean on vacation or in the pool at home or while traveling. I always feel so sorry for the moms and kids that don’t play together – and the weird thing is it’s usually super skinny moms that are the most self-conscious!
