jenny-week-3

I was provided a free trial Jenny Craig program, meals and promotional consideration. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

My first week on the Jenny Craig program I lost four pounds. The second week I lost two pounds. (My first week’s results were not typical. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 pounds per week.)

These weights were taken in the Jenny Craig office in the middle of day, after I had consumed breakfast, a snack, lots of water and while wearing clothing. (As opposed to the number on the scale at 6am before eating anything and right before hopping in the shower.)

I can see the difference, especially in my face and belly, my personal tell-tale areas.

Eating the Jenny Craig food is so convenient. I do not have to worry about counting calories and the portions are filling, teachable moments. I am learning that as long as nutrients are balanced and the food is a healthy combination of protein, greens, vegetables, complex carbs and fats, a 300 calorie meal will not leave you hungry.

Jenny Craig’s Chicken Fajita Bowl atop a bed of steamed spinach with lime + Sriracha was every bit as awesome as Chipotle. Really.

I really like the order of the plan. I am always eating but never worried that I am eating too much. Right now my daily intake looks like this:

  • A healthy Jenny Craig breakfast with my coffee
  • A serving of  fruit and a Jenny Craig Anytime Bar mid-morning
  • A Jenny Craig lunch + a fresh salad
  • A mid-afternoon snack of 6 ounces of Greek yogurt + fruit
  • One small “Soupitizer” soup to enjoy before making the family dinner
  • A Jenny Craig dinner + fresh vegetables
  • One Jenny Craig treat — some are salty-crunchy, some are sweet — that I can add anywhere in there … or skip in lieu of one glass of wine if going out
  • Lots of water

I am rarely hungry beyond this, but if I do get become peckish I can choose from unlimited non-starchy vegetables and up to three additional servings a day of fruit.

The Soupitizer is genius. Since I am still cooking dinner for the family most nights, this savory little soup keeps me satisfied while cooking, even if I am making something truly awesome for the rest of the gang. The soup tides me over until mealtime when I eat my meal with the family.

It’s working and it is not hard. I’m a fan.

I am also a big fan of my Jenny Craig consultant, Rockville location manager Sandra. She is encouraging, knowledgeable and I know she really wants me to succeed. I look forward to our meeting each week and her check-in calls. I am experiencing firsthand Jenny Craig’s famous personal support.

I will keep posting every two weeks on my progress, as well as share on Twitter my Jenny Craig experience. Thanks for following along.
