I tried my first Shabby Apple order, deciding on a versatile, transitional dress for spring that works for both everyday and nicer events.
The São Paulo Dress by Shabby Apple is a striped, slouchy t-shirt dress that is a dream of comfort. I like the push-up sleeves, longer-in-the-back shirttail hem and the rayon/cotton blend that allows a soft t-shirt look with a flattering drape. This dress feels like a nightgown but looks on-point.
This style and all of the Shabby Apple t-shirt dresses run large, which allow for versatility of styling. Let it hang free for casual, paired with leggings when cool or with sandals or sneakers when warmer.
I also easily dressed it up for a non-mom event this weekend, looking slightly more fly than a grocery store run. I cinched the waist with a woven leather belt, topped with a fitted leather bomber and paired it with my most classic heels. It was a dream to ditch the constricting pencil skirt and tight jeans that I often wear when wanting to look non-mom.
Worn with my Vince black leather bomber (similar), Cole Haan Highline D’Orsay pump, Michael Kors black braided belt (logo charm removed), Kate Spade Astor Court quilted handbag in bone.
Here’s how I plan on wearing the dress for spring casual. Styled the same way I’ve been dressing since I was a college freshman: with a denim jacket and canvas sneakers. Hey, at least I skipped the flannel around the waist, JanSport backpack and Cal baseball cap. (Go Bears!)
Worn with my trusty everyday items: Vintage Levi’s denim jacket (similar), $6 chevron infinity scarf, a shiny gold pair of my fav Superga canvas tennies.
But seriously, if you see me running around town in this dress, this is how you will most likely find me. With a kid or three, forgetting to hold my tummy in and not enough makeup.
Worn with Alice (or Eve or Charlie).

I have kept my eye on Shabby Apple for years, but never actually worn any of their clothes.
I think you look nice all the ways you styled – or didn’t style – the dress. Best wishes!

Ya know, I’ve windowshopped on their site a ton, but have never actually purchased anything. I love the vintage feel a lot of their dresses have.
