Last year when I made a hard commitment to lose weight, one of the most effective changes I made was cutting back on sugar. It is in EVERYTHING, and those hidden extra calories can really sabotage our diets. In fact, the average American eats 22.2 teaspoons of sugar each day, while experts recommend we take in no more than six teaspoons daily.

Sugar substitutes like Splenda are an easy way to make simple changes in our recipes. When recipes call for sugar, you can often choose a Splenda sweetner product instead. The result will add the same sweetness but with less calories (and Points, if like me you are a Weight Watchers member.)
